These Regulations restrict heavy commercial vehicles from using certain stretches of the southbound A1(M) motorway in Durham between the hours of 0700 and 1900 on any day. The specified stretches of motorway are described in regulation 3. Exceptions to the restriction apply where a vehicle is directed to the off-side lane by the police, traffic officers or traffic signs; where necessary to avoid an accident; for vehicles used by traffic officers or the emergency services and for vehicles used for motorway maintenance purposes. An impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no impact on the private, public or voluntary sectors is foreseen.
