This Order, which is made under section 3(1)(b) of the Transport and Works Act 1992, empowers the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne to construct a tidal barrage with moveable lock gates across the Ouseburn and to execute ancillary works, including dredging of the upstream Ouseburn. The Order confers the necessary powers on the Council, including powers to acquire the requisite land and rights by agreement or compulsorily. A copy of the deposited plans, the deposited sections and the book of reference referred to in this Order may be inspected at the offices of the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne, Customer Services Centre, Civic Centre, Barras Bridge, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE99 1FR.
