Explanatory note

These Regulations provide that breaches of certain provisions of Council Regulation (EC) 798/2004 (“the EC Regulation”) are to be criminal offences. Regulation 2 creates penalties in respect of the provisions in Articles 2 and 3 of the EC Regulation. Regulation 3 provides for licensing of the transactions set out in regulation 2; and regulation 4 provides for enforcement and penalties for breach of the EC Regulation. Regulation 5 revokes the Burma (Sale, Supply and Export of Goods) (Penalties) Regulations 2000. A full regulatory impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as it has no impact on the costs of business.
