This Order revokes and remakes the provisions of the Disease of Animals (Ascertainment of Disease) Order 1985 (S.I.1985/1765) and the Movement of Animals (Restrictions) Order 1990 (S.I. 1990/760). The Order— a extends to the presence of disease on means of transport as well as on premises; and b enables a veterinary inspector to prohibit the movement of animals while investigating whether disease is on the premises or means of transport (article 8(b)). A Regulatory Impact Assessment has been prepared for this Order and placed in the library of each House of Parliament. Copies can be obtained from the Animal Health and Exotic Diseases Division of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, 1a Page Street, London, SW1P 4PQ.
