This Order extends sections 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Taking of Hostages Act 1982, subject to exceptions, adaptations and modifications, to the Territories specified in Schedule 2 hereto, and sections 1 and 2 to the Territories specified in Schedule 3 hereto. The purpose of the Act is to give effect to the International Convention against the Taking of Hostages opened for signature at New York on 18 December 1979.
