This Order prohibits the landing in Great Britain of the embryos, ova or semen of certain animals from a place outside Great Britain except under the authority of a licence. However, the prohibition does not apply to any semen which is landed in Great Britain in accordance with the provisions of section 17(3) of the Agriculture (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1943. Article 5 of the Order enables the veterinary inspectors to take action in case of the contravention of the Order. This is without prejudice to any court proceedings for an offence arising out of the contravention of the Order and where such contravention is deliberate proceedings may, by virtue of article 9, be on indictment.
