These Regulations amend the Welfare of Animals (Transport) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007 (the principal Regulations). Regulation 4 amends regulation 2(1) of the principal Regulations by inserting a definition of “animal” and “inspector”. Regulation 5 amends regulation 3 of the principal Regulations, by inserting a reference to Part II of Schedule 1 to the Diseases of Animals (Northern Ireland) Order 1981. Regulation 6 amends paragraphs (3) and (7) of regulation 24 of the principal Regulations, it also inserts a new paragraph (9), the effect of which is to specify that a person who fails to comply with a notice served under regulation 24(2) or, (6) is guilty of an offence. Regulation 7 amends regulation 27 of the principal Regulations by inserting a new paragraph (3), the effect of which is to specify that failure to comply with regulation 27(1) constitutes an offence. Regulation 8 omits regulation 29 of the principal Regulations.
